On the last Saturday in May, at 7.00 a.m., the cauldrons and stoves of eighteen competitors who entered the competition for the best goulash in Ratiboř were festively lit.
This goulash festival took place for the fourteenth time in a row and again aroused great interest among visitors. This year's event was marked by record participation, 515 tourists went on the spring march and the whole event was visited by over 2 thousand people. The weather gave us a wonderful walk around Ratiboř this year. Two routes were prepared for tourists, the first was adapted for strollers and the longer one led to the Maruška lookout tower in Hošťálková and bypassed Ratiboř from both sides.
The goulash competition took place throughout the morning in a pleasant atmosphere, all competitors had a good time and rather than rivalry, a good mood and joy from the meeting prevailed. At 12.00 p.m., all the goulashes were cooked and the tasting committee got to work, which had a very difficult task, namely to evaluate all 18 samples and find the best goulash among them. All this was successful and the winners emerged from the evaluation – Mr. Radim Jarošek and Mr. Lukáš Machálek.

After 1:00 p.m., when the results were announced and the winners received their cups and prizes, the afternoon program began. It was opened by the Zlín Bartenders with their show, then continued by Mr. Regmund, who enchanted the audience with the cracking of the whip. The highlight of the afternoon was the performance of our Ratiboř children's ensemble Kosáček with the band "Májíček, májíček". The children were accompanied by the Slepenica dulcimer band.
Suddenly, we were caught by a spring storm, which, however, did not disrupt the program in any way – thanks to the roofing of practically the entire area, people did not have to run away from the rain. And so the whole program could be crowned by the Iron Zekon, which captivated all visitors with its hour-long strong performance. The event swung into its second part, evening entertainment, which continued until late at night.
I would like to thank everyone who participated in the organization of the entire event, both the march and the goulash king, in the preparation of the area, the organization of the program, the performance and the Sunday cleaning. I am also very glad that local associations – firefighters and football players – have joined this event, to whom we also deserve a big thank you.
